1. Choose a tangible element to the purchase with the money: You a much easier time getting parents, employees, children and the community concerned, if you choose a specific project or product to buy with the funds you raise. Kids games, new toys and furniture for the classrooms are frequently purchased items through fundraising. If you do not communicate how you will use the funds, you might have trouble getting parents and the community involved in your fundraising efforts.
2. Carefully choose your method of fundraising: Not all fundraisers are created equal. You decide What method will be most effective for you based on such factors as: the amount of time you have, if there are people willing to help you, your participation community, and how much money you need to grow.
Candy bars / Suckers: Advantages include being inexpensive and easy to sell. Cons particular need to sell a large amount to raise enough money for large purchases. You can also generally buy items from the box.
Catalogs: Advantages – It is generally a lot of variety in the items for sale with a range options prices. There is also potential for higher overall income with this method. Disadvantages include need to deliver the items purchased at a later date and some of the items for sale may not be of the highest quality.
Coupon Books: Benefits – There is a potential higher income per item and books can be delivered immediately upon purchase. Cons – Many other organizations will be selling these books at time and the coupons can not please everyone.
Unique Fundraising Event-(like a dinner or a lot): Advantages – This method is generally the higher income potential and the possibility of involving the community. Cons – A fundraising single event usually requires the greatest amount of work and higher costs from the outset.
3. Offer a reward: Consider offering a reward to both the parent and the employee who helped raise the most money or sells the most products. For example, providing one week of free childcare in the parent wins and a cash bonus to the employee wins. These awards act as an incentive to encourage highest level of participation.
4. Keep everyone updated: create a way to keep parents, staff, children, and community aware of your progress. For example, you can periodically send a newsletter or create a giant thermometer on the wall and color as you raise more funds. These updates will help keep everyone involved until your fundraising goals have met.
5. Say "Thanks": After reaching your goals of fundraising and bought that new piece play equipment, make sure everyone knows how much you appreciate their help. You can do something as simple as writing a thank you note or as complex as planning a dinner for people who have helped to organize the fundraising event.

I already pay two or three bucks for an In-N-Out Burger. It is a college near where I live and occasionally car washes at a corner a fairly busy road. When it was warm and the girls were in shorts and bikini tops, and the guys were shirtless, they did a bang-up business.
